Pulling my hair is WAY more fun than the boring old chew toys he has. In the past few days I have become very acquainted with the tile floor in our kitchen. And very aware of how I need to clean all the bottoms of our cabinets, too.
I really just can't hide the fact that I am so excited... I'm like a kid on Christmas morning! Seriously. I made the little pad/blanket using the left over squares from the last quilt. We go to get our little dude tomorrow afternoon. Do not be surprised when the next post you see is all puppy pictures. Because, yes, I will be that kind of pet owner :)
I finished this piece of cuteness last week before my trip to Austin. I have coveted and hoarded that cute birdie fabric for a long time, and finally found other fabrics that would match it. Love how it turned out - it's for a friend who is having a boy. I think the colors are warm and the birdie fabric adds a boyish charm :)
I used the wonderfully talented, Kim Kesti's tutorial on the binding and it worked SOOOO FABULOUSLY!!! I literally set up my laptop and followed along step by step and good gosh! It was so easy and painless, and I think is the very best binding I've done thus far. Thank you so much, Kim ;)
And because I could not resist with my left over scraps.... Yup, another set of burp cloths :)
In other excitement, we are 2 days away from getting our sweet puppy!
Last night Adam and I were talking about house training and he spoke with a friend who warned him about Parvo. When we get him, he will have had his first round of shots, but supposedly puppies are most likely to get Parvo during their first and second round of shots.??? Um, now I am super nervous. I mean, even Oprah's dog contracted it!!! Super nervous about that.
Calling around today to find the perfect vet for us. We've got his crate, and section of the house ready for him - check. Food and water bowls - check. Collar and leash - check. 2 cute accessories (a bandana and necktie) - check. And working on a little blanket/pad for him - almost done!
I'm setting a time limit on myself this morning. Dreaded house cleaning to do today, the quicker I start, the quicker I finish. Just wanted to share these really quickly... some burp cloths of for the baby girl. I have been a sewing fool the past few days. I trip to the fabric store *might* have had something to do with that ;)
I made another set of boy or girl cloths yesterday, of course, to match the baby quilt that I finished. I was on a roll, what can I say?! I will share that next time. Hopefully by then, all the house work will be complete, and I will be back at my sewing machine.
Of course, I cannot post this without saying who inspired me, yet again! The ever-talented, Susan Weinroth. If you visit her blog, you know that she is an amazing scrapbooker and sewing machine genius. I loved the concept of these burpies back when she first showed them on her blog, but at that time, I did not have any friends who were expecting/baby showers to go to. Here lately, that has changed...lots of my girl friends are expecting or have new babies :) So I tried my hand at Susan's Burpies! - LOVED making these - so fun, easy, cute and a just an all around great shower gift!
Of course, I had to photograph the tag up close - it's an American Craft Wood mounted stamp that was embossed - LOVE that stamp! Find it here.
Thank you for the wonderful advice on house training!!! We do plan on crate training our doggie - the "how to" book recommends it as well. Any more puppy advice will be GREATLY appreciated. We will get to bring him home on the 18th of this month :)
Purchased these 2 books from Amazon last week. I've been reading the housebreaking one like it's my bible. :) Has anyone tried this book? I'm not expecting it to work in 7 days flat, but still, I need our doggie to be trained by the time I go back to work. Any luck? Any tips would be wonderfully appreciated!!!
Adam thinks I'm so silly when I ask him who is going to be the "pack leader" in our house.
And yes, that's a Q-tip as my bookmark... it's my night stand bookmark of choice :P
