It's hard to believe that this was an outdated, gold-leafed, 1970's piece of decor.
Well at least for me, it is. My mom had this and it's matching mirror since I was born, I think. A few weeks ago she decided to clean out and I mentioned that was wanting to decorate our guest room more. She went to the closet and found this... a light bulb went off in my head and I remembered a set of candlesticks (i think?) that I saw on the Red Velvet blog that they had spray painted hot pink. The next day I went to Wal-mart and found the paint.
In Watermelon. Here's what I came up with.
I took some old frames and another wood mirror and painted them too. The "scrapped" frame at the bottom is Fontwerks pattern paper
Sorry for the bad quality of photos... I could not get them to photograph well.
The best part about it all is that it only cost me 3 bucks for the paint! SWEET - A!
And it adds a bit more to the formally totally bare walls of our guest bedroom.
My hair that is. Got it cut and darkened on Tuesday. Totally did it! but I think I went with more of the Brooke
than the Hailey
but baby steps, right? Mandy (my totally great hair stylist) said that I should go with this for now while I get used to the cut and shortness, and then once I am used to it, go back for the MORE bangs and shorter layers. Total over analyzation of hair, right?! But she is smart and right.
So that's that.
So far I love it - it' no time to blow dry and easy to fix! I think it will go well with my new clothes for school - of which I bought last Friday. My sis and I went school shopping! So fun, and found so many cute things at NY&Co. Love that store.
Adam's parents are here for the rest of the week and weekend. We are planning another trip to Schilterbahn tomorrow - that will be FUN FUN! Love water parks... esp. since it's been in the 100's here in TX.
Mmmm, I can just taste the yummy corndogs and sausage on a stick already.
sometimes I feel like I have it... sometimes I don't.
Last night I had it - I wanted to create. Stayed up late scrapping this:
It's a scraplift of the lovely, super talented, and so wonderful, Laura Kurz. That girl has style like no other. I admire it so much. This is her layout. Lifting her layout allowed me to just be free with products and not think too much about it. Love that feeling.
And as promised, my new love of creating... sewing!
The pillow cases. The two large one's are the 3 seam easy patterns, and the smaller pillow I made just putting together scraps from the quilt.
a close up of the easy 3 seams
As you can see, it's already on our bed, and wrinkled due to the usage :0)
Mom and I spend some time at the quilt store last week.
We had total fabric lust. She went crazy with the fabrics and thoughts of making quilts. I bought some more Swell Fabric to make matching pillow cases - of which I will post photos of soon. They were super simple 3 seam pillow cases and went together so fast!
Anyway, not sure what these pretties are gonna be, but I have yet to make myself cut them up.
I'm thinking place mats or a table runner???
what do you think - any great ideas or easy templates?
