in our home, and we will finally get some great use out of our front porch.
Saw this cute set of patio furniture at Wal-Mart, went back and forth with should we/shouldn't we, and finally Adam bit the bullet and surprised me with it on Monday - just in time for our Memorial day bar-b-que.
This is the porch that I had visioned when we first bought this house. 2 years in the making.
Yes, for us, our motto has always been "everything in good time."
Teachers in the last 2 weeks of school - that's us.
Stayed late for the annual awards banquet tonight. Our baseball team, the San Saba Armadillos, are doing so well this year and are in the play-offs this weekend. Had a baseball game last Friday, followed by prom on Saturday. And We have graduation next Friday. That's a mouthful, and I KNOW I am leaving something out! LOL (sort of).
Just busy as a bee and trying to hold my head above water these last 2 weeks.
I don't even think I have used my camera in several weeks. eeek! I need to get it out, but alas, I find myself just wanting to go to bed at night :0)
I'll just post a random photo of some lemons. How's that for entertainment?!
Not really sure why it's so big, but i have no mind power to go back and figure it out tonight.
Oh, and if you are needing a really great new love song, I found one yesterday, thanks to Maria Grace...It's called Lucky by Jason Mraz with Colbie Caillat.
We had a fun bar-b-que at my grandparents house. Family from out of town came in and we also got to celebrate 4 birthdays while we were at it.
Sadly, this is the only photo I actually got of my mom and grandma :0( Because as I said, we also celebrated the birthday's of these 2 boys who stole the show:
No, we didn't celebrate Halloween, Rachel and I just saw these at Wal-Mart a few hours before and HAD to get them for the two! Heeeeheee! We also got them a Spiderman pinata...which brought on MANY make-my-stomach-hurt-I-am-laughing-so-hard laughs. Good times.
A few other snap shots from the day:
Uncle David doing the whole "take a picture of you taking a picture of me."
I think the future girlfriends will LOVE this! LOL.
Yesterday was nice - I literally got some really great creative time in. But it did take me seriously an hour to clean up my space before I started. It looked like this since last Saturday:
Adam and I watched a lovely movie called, Bella last night. It was a really touching movie. I was in tears (but the good kind) by the end.
And on to today...
I am debating on whether I should just take a shower or clean the floors. I HATE getting started...once I do, it's all good. Its just the getting started part. I know, I know, interesting stuff huh?!
Family is to be in this evening, we have a friend's graduation party to go tonight, and Mother's Day tomorrow. Nice weekend time.
Today is a Thursday/Friday for me - and I could not be happier!
We have the day off tomorrow for an unused bad weather day. Yippeee!
A few things:
My grandmother celebrated her birthday on Tuesday! Adam and Lee grilled hamburgers and hotdogs at our house for the celebration. My grandmother had a wonderful day, she said, and we all agreed that every day with her is wonderful. She turned 78. :0)
And speaking of Birthdays, this cool dude is celebrating his today! Happy Birthday, Ryan!
This morning I have been thinking a lot about being content. I think I am content right now. I have a job, a family, a wonderful husband, a roof over my head, and food to eat. I am happy. And truthfully, (sooo not trying to sound righteous or anything like that), I feel content where I am right now in life. It's a good feeling. Don't get me wrong, I could list a million things I would like to buy/go/have or do. I am not without wants. But those are just things that I can do without. This feeling may only last for a bit, tomorrow I might be feeling the opposite. But today I am content.
and now back from the deep side...
Hope today is a great day for you! and because I have a hard time posting without a photo or two, I'll post this one of bluebonnets. These are no longer along the highway anymore, and I think that's what makes them so cool is that they are only around for a few short weeks out of the year - but sure to come back next spring.
A photo of a recent project I did for twopeasinabucket.com. I love the idea of creating on canvas - it's so much more sturdy for wall hanging purposes. I made this one using those cool Maya Road chipboard trees. It is now residing in the foyer of our home.
of the blog kind.
I took a break from blogging for a bit...okay, okay, the whole month of April.
But I'm back. Hopefully break-free for a while. Things were normal, I just decided to put blogging on the back burner and do other things.
So the month of April was nice for us. Our garden is growing. Adam was so excited to show me today that our tomato plants have tiny green tomatoes on them. One of our banana pepper plants has a pretty nice size pepper on it! And my flowers that I swore would probably never come up, are starting to show themselves. Caladiums - and what I think are the dahlias. My fingers are crossed.
We had a wedding of friends to go to. And believe it or not, I was the photographer for it. I had photographed their engagements, but a wedding?! It was scary, being the 1st and ONLY wedding I have ever done, but the couple had faith in me and it turned out to be pretty fun and exciting.
I also did another senior girl photos. She is one of my students. And that was fun! She enjoyed seeing them and was excited that they would be in the yearbook. :0)
And the last weekend in April, we headed out to the hill country highways of Texas, for some bluebonnet photos. I drive this highway everyday to work, so I had been scoping out the perfect place to pull off to the shoulder to sit in bluebonnets.
then Adam & I:
We took some diff. ones in this type of grass/hay stuff - I liked the look!
I am still using the Indie Art Actions for all my editing and am still in love with them.
Finally, it's May - and school is almost out for summer! Yeee-Haw! I am doing a week of art history (really just having the students memorize "famous" paintings and artists) and was nicely surprised at how the kids got into it today! The adolescent mind never ceases to amaze me. :0)
How's that for an update?!
I will try to post more often during this last month of school. Try!
Oh, and on a side note: I am so glad that the writers strike ending during April! We are finally enjoying Greys, Law & Order SVU, and ER, again. Thank you, writers.
